A few of my favorite things

July 10, '09 by Maggie P

The board that I put up today is really just some of my favorite photos from around the blog and wedding world. I just love this first picture of the couple running together, it has just such a wonderful feeling about it. The second photo which I found at Mint & Sage photography captures a great rustic wedding moment. I hope to have a similar picture taken at my wedding since we are renting a wonderful old red pick up truck for the day. The bottom two photos just are small things that can really add a lot to a wedding. I love the swag that goes up and down the chairs, this could look great in a church too, and well I am just a sucker for baby’s breath flowers.

I Heart Hearts

July 06, '09 by Maggie P

For a long time I used to think the use of hearts at a wedding sometimes came across as cheesy and trite, but recently I have found some really great ways to mix them in so they add the right amount of charm and all the while keeping the lovable qualities of hearts. Here are a few of the heart items we offer in the Whispering Pines Wedding Colletion and I think you can’t go wrong with any of them.

July 03, '09 by Maggie P

You can have some of the greatest wedding ideas, decorations or food but if they are not presented in an equally great way they lose almost all of their charm. Presentation is everything when it comes to displaying your wedding goods. I found some of what I think are the best displays to show off today.

Visit the Whispering Pines Wedding Collection to find great things to help show off your wedding goodies.

The Long Table!

July 02, '09 by Maggie P

The trend of having long tables for weddings seems to be growing in popularity. I myself am using long tables instead of the classic round table. The long tables can give you more options when it comes to “dressing” the tables, I am doing several different flower arrangements down the table and scattering pine cones in between, I am using a mix of natural ones I have picked up from the woods and these great Glittered Acorns. Another reason this look can be appealing is because it can give a “barn” feel to a space. My wedding is going to be held at a rustic lodge in the town where my family summers and the “long table” look fits in perfectly. Here are some other great looks I found for the long wedding table.

New Product Alert!

July 01, '09 by Maggie P

I wanted to show off a new product that was just added the Whispering Pines Wedding Collection- The Natural Kraft Gable Box. I am using these boxes at my own wedding as the welcome box that each guest will receive when they check into their hotel room. I have added an old postcard attached by a nice brown color ribbon to the box with a note to welcome everyone to the wedding. I will be filling these boxes with little snacks, water, local maps and ideas of things to do in the area. I love these boxes because the possibilities are endless with them, for example I will be using stamps to put a few images on the boxes that speak to the location of my wedding, pine tree, deer, boats etc…. Add your own personal touch to them and you are all set.

Here is another way to use them which I found on a blog for an island wedding, just print out a sticker and you got it made:

Product Spotlight: The Beaded Heart

Product Spotlight: The Beaded Heart
Today I wanted to show off one of my favorite products in the Whispering Pines Wedding Collection, the beaded heart. These little beaded hearts make the perfect favor or you can place them on a table to add a little sparkle and they also make a wonderful ornament to hang from tree branches. With three great colors to choose from you can’t run out of ways to use them. I am using them at my own wedding as decorations around the escort card table. I have a beautiful branch arrangement and these hearts will be hanging from the branches, they make a great centerpieces and they pick up just the right amount of light!

Adventures in Tablecloth Land

June 25, '09 by Maggie P

Today I wanted to look at a fun way to dress up a table, whether it be for a wedding, rehearsal dinner or just a party, a good fun tablecloth can sometimes be all you need to take the table from good to wow! I found a few that I think hit the nail on the head as far as being different but add just the right amount of charm.

Try using our Vacationland Tablecloth to dress up an escort card table or your cake table, let it represent all of the places the two of you have been, or will go together.

or how about some of these fun tablecloths that I found from around the blog circuit…

Mason Jar Love

June 24, '09 by Maggie P

I am in love with using Mason Jars at weddings for almost anything. I know this is not a new concept but recently I have been seeing these little jars used in so many different ways that I wanted to share some of the photos I have come across.

One of the reasons I think mason jars can be a brides best friend is the fact that they are inexpensive, bring a vintage vibe to the wedding but they also work well with the whole reduce, reuse, recycle idea. I have bought some for my wedding at the local thrift store, I have saved some money and I like giving a bit back to the local community.

The Barn Wedding Reinvented

June 23, '09 by Maggie P

I found this inspiration board over at the blog Affordable Utah Weddings and thought it was one of the best looking barn weddings I have seen in awhile. One of my favorite details is the creamy color fabric that is hanging in the barn, what a simple, easy and affordable way to dress up a barn.

I am also in love with the orange color flowers, they may in the past have only been good for a fall wedding but my school of thought is to throw out those rules and invent your own, so have orange flowers in a spring or summer wedding, why not. Also, who could not love the cowboy boots, so cute. I thought I would show you some of our products that I thought would go good with this board and this style wedding.

The Whispering Pines Bride

June 16, '09 by Maggie P

So what does a WP bride look like? Well, I am sure there are several different types but I found some pictures that I think really sum up a WP bride. Think you are a WP bride? Or did you have a WP style wedding? Then please feel free to send in some photos and we will post some up here on our blog.

I love how beautiful this bride looks with an almost effortless feel about her, plus I think the small amount of color on her dress really gives it that something extra all the while keeping the classic bride look.

The silhouette on this dress is amazing…hey, no one says you can’t wear a full skirt when having a rustic wedding! This dress is very similar to the one I will rock on August 1!

This dress seems to have the perfect mix of fantasy wedding dress and a nature inspired theme. Also, check out the small deatil of the green ribbon on this dress, such a small deatil but has a great impact.

The hair alone in this shot is enough to get me excited let alone the amazing dress (J.Crew). Don’t cast out the idea of gold jewelry or accents just because at first they may not seem right for a rustic setting. Gold sometimes can be the perfect amount of sparkle and often times can add a touch of sophistication.

June 15, '09 by Maggie P

As my own wedding gets closer and closer I am pulling together the last few things that need to be done. Over the weekend I spent hours shopping and online looking for great bridesmaid and groomsmen gifts. I think the best gifts to give in this case are things that are meaningful but also add a touch of humor. I am still looking for the bridesmaids gift but I can show you something that I came across for which are perfect for the men in the group. I don’t know one man that does not love the movie Caddyshack and now the Murray Bros. have a site where you can buy some great items. Check out Murray Bros.
