Not Your Traditional Bridesmaids Dress

May 11, '10 by Maggie Lord

I saw these photos while browsing the internet last night and I thought they would be great to show for anyone thinking about a non-traditional bridesmaid dress. These dresses look perfect for the day but seem to have a more rustic and "downhome" feel to them. This just goes to show you when you use your imagination the more beautiful the big day can be!

Navy & Green

May 05, '10 by Maggie Lord

So it seems that I am stuck on the color navy these days… I have already shown off how great navy can look with yellow and today I wanted to show off how great navy can look with green. What a great color theme for a spring/summer wedding!

A Sunflower Theme

May 04, '10 by Maggie Lord

I got so much great feedback from yesterdays blue & yellow theme I thought I would keep that idea going with another yellow idea… a sunflower theme. The sunflower can be the perfect summertime flower for a wedding in really almost any location but it especially can look great when at a rustic wedding location. The sunflower is so bright and vibrant that it brings just the right amount of color to any venue. For example say you are having a rustic wedding in a barn, one might think it would be hard to lighten up the usual dark color of a barn but with some strategic lighting and a massive amount of sunflowers throughout the location you will be good to go! The sunflower also looks great with the color navy, so it really does tie right back to yesterdays blue and yellow theme.

Wedding Recap

May 03, '10 by Maggie Lord

At the end of last week I had told all of you that I was going to be going to a wedding in NJ on the shore, well it was really a beautiful wedding with many great details. One of the things I loved the most was the navy blue and yellow theme that the bride chose for her colors… it really did look great, and played quite well with the grooms love of The Univ. of Michigan since he attended there. Below is an inspiration board to help get you thinking of great blue and yellow can be together.

I also promised last week to show off the dress that I wore to the wedding since I really think I have found the perfect wedding guest dress and all last week I showed off great pink dresses that would look great at shore weddings. I regret to say I did not get a full length shot of the dress but here I am with my husband and you can see the top of the dress at least.

Feeling Blue

April 29, '10 by Maggie Lord

I am not actually feeling blue today, the sun is shining and it looks like we are going to have a nice day here in CT but I did want to show off a great blue theme for a wedding. As I was talking about yesterday I am heading down to the beach this weekend for a wedding and I thought today’s blue theme would really compliment a beach/nautical location wedding. Love everything about this board but I really the blue hydrangea.

Dressing for a Seaside Affair

April 28, '10 by Maggie Lord

This weekend I will be traveling down south a few hours from where I live to a wedding which will be taking place seaside. This wedding is not one of those weddings on the beach exactly but close enough that I will want to make sure I am in a nice spring and beach style dress. I have found that dressing for these weddings can be a bit of a challenge because you want to dress appropriately for the location but stay true to some wedding dress code principals. For example the wedding this weekend I will be attending is by the beach yes, but it is also at 6:00 in the evening so I have to make sure I am dressing for the seaside yet an evening wedding (I will post pictures of my dress on Monday). Today I thought I would show off some dresses that would work for your next seaside wedding.

All dresses can be found at J. Crew or J.Crew.com

So today we get a peek inside their wedding which they held in their backyard in the summer of 2007. This wedding and the couples chic style really is the ultimate backyard wedding.

In the past few months I have shown off some great tutorials, I thought today I would show off another great how to… today its all about how to braid your hair. Real Wedding: Washington State

April 15, '10 by Maggie Lord

Today’s real wedding really shows just how elegant and sophisticated a farm wedding can be. I love the flower arrangements and the simple detail of having natural wood color chairs for the outside ceremony instead of white ones, helps to display the nature and beauty of the surroundings. Everything from the dress to the flowers to the wedding party looks great!

Check back tomorrow for part II of this wedding
