Set the table

August 12, '09 by Maggie Lord

Today I am showing off the tables from my wedding back on August 1st in Northern Wisconsin close to my family’s summer house. The tables were simple yet wonderful and had the most amazing look to them thanks to the flowers and the added touch of the Whispering Pines Lodge Plates and our Pine Cone Fabric in natural which we had made into napkins for the event.

Blue Theme

July 27, '09 by Maggie P

Today’s inspiration board comes again from the great photographer who we featured last week Millie Holloman. I love this board not only because I think blue is just a great color for a wedding at any time of year but because there are so many different directions you can take the blue theme. Blue can be great in the summer to do an all-American Ralph Lauren type of feel or a nautical Nantucket theme or simply mix the blue with a white, yellow, cream or green theme and you have it made. This blue board has a farm feel to it but while keeping things simple it also has a sophisticated feel, I love the mix of reds and yellows.

On a side note my own wedding is this Saturday and it is amazing how fast one year of planning goes by. I will share all the details and pictures with you very soon.

Remembering Great Weddings!

July 22, '09 by Maggie P

July 16th marked the 10th anniversary of the sad day when JFK Jr. and his wife passed away. Since their wedding was so beautiful I thought I would show a few pictures from it. Their wedding really had a great mix of simplicity and sophistication and seemed to reflect the people they really were.

Looking back to “Camelot” and the wedding of Jackie and President Kennedy it is clear how the words style, grace and beauty always seemed to be attached to this family. The September 1953 wedding was held at St. Mary’s Church in Newport, Rhode Island with a reception held that Hammersmith Farm. Even though this wedding was over 56 years ago it does not seem outdated at all. Good style is always in style.

Beautiful!

What an amazing Dress. I saw this dress for myself at the The Metropolitan museum of art’s annual costume institute a few years back and it really is something to see.

Cake and other Goodies.

July 21, '09 by Maggie P

First off I am just in love with this picture below, it is so magical looking. I think every brides wants to look as wonderful as this bride does and the picture really seems captures the moment.

And then just check out these cakes. I think they all look like something a rustic bride would love to have at their wedding. All of these seem to keep a classic wedding cake look about them all the while infusing a rustic element.

A Rustic Wedding is a State of Mind

July 20, '09 by Maggie P

These next two boards are very different from one another and have both made their way equally around the different blogs but I wanted to show how a rustic wedding can take on many shapes and forms, after all, a rustic wedding is really a state of mind.

This first board really has a Lake Rustic feeling to it. This is very close to what my wedding will look and feel like which by the way is in under two weeks!

This wedding is different from the one above but equally rustic since they choose to play up the country angle of what rustic means. I love their flowers and the postcard reply card…its all great!!

Did you have a rustic wedding, email me at mpanian@whisperingpinescatalog.com and share pictures!

Ideas for a barn wedding

July 15, '09 by Maggie P

Today I really just wanted to show off some things I think would make a barn wedding look and feel great. This inspirtation board is all things I could see making a barn wedding pop. The first picture is just an amazing barn and the cream color drapes I think are really take this barn into the wedding world. The second picture shows a great table, would work great at a barn. The dress is J.Crew and I love it in this color, I think it would look so good agaist the natural background of a barn. The Horseshoe, Pine Cone Tin Bucket,Glass Hanging Hearts and the Beaded Hearts all come from the Whispering Pines Wedding collection and the roses I think are just the perfect mix of wedding luxe and rustic charm.

Flowers

July 14, '09 by Maggie P

Since most of yesterday was spent at the wholesale florist picking out the flowers for my August 1 wedding. I had been working on the floral arrangements for months but yesterday was the day I got to go and pick out exactly the flowers I wanted. I knew I wanted to stick with creams, whites and then just add some color with a little bit of green fillers. Below is a board that I have been using to help guide me in my flower buying. I have all long tables at the reception so each long table will be graced with four vases of roses, doing the math of 22 long tables times 4 vases on each table I end up a lot of pretty roses. The church is going to be packed with baby’s breath and cream colored roses along with a huge 72 inch round baby’s breath wreath and two large pots of white flowers at the entrance to the church.
