The All White Wedding Bouquet

January 26, '11 by Maggie Lord

I often do post on great wedding flowers and wedding bouquets and recently we have seen a jump in interest for the all white wedding bouquet. With that said some people will ask me if all white looks good since it could blend in with the white dress. I have to say that the all white look can come off looking amazing! The white flowers can have a crisp and clean look which looks great in any season. So if all white is in your sights...go for it!

Here are a few of my favorite all white bouquets.

Its All About The Dress

January 25, '11 by Maggie Lord

I wanted to feature some more beautiful dresses today because lets face it so much of the wedding is about The Dress! Today's dresses are all from Watters which offers two different lines of dresses. They have their Watters Collection where dresses start from $1700 and then they also offer their WTOO Collection where dresses start from $650

I have to say I think you get you a lot of bang for your buck with these dresses- these styles are beautiful and elegant and Watters offer so many different styles it seems every bride can find her dream dress. I got my dress from a wonderful bridal shop here in CT and it was a Watters dress. My dress (which you can see here and here) was a strapless dress that after working with a great seamstress I added lace straps.

Here are a few of my favorite new styles from Watters... but there are so many more on their site which you might love!

Valentine's Day Wedding Inspiration

January 21, '11 by Maggie Lord

With Valentine's Day coming up soon I wanted to show off an inspiration board to help get you in the mood for all of those Valentine's Day weddings that maybe taking place. A V-Day wedding does not have to be as juvenile as conversation hearts, it can be very sophisticated and elegant. Using a pop of red color is the best way to make a V-Day wedding fun. Too much red can be overpowering so by deciding on very particular places to use the color is important.

Do you have a wedding or wedding ideas that you would like to share with Whispering Pines Wedding Blog? Please feel free to email Maggie with your wedding pics, inspiration boards, ideas or wedding products. mlord {at} whisperingpinescatalog.com

A Walk In Her Shoes

January 18, '11 by Maggie Lord

Today's wedding is really a stunner! This wedding took place up in Kelowa, BC, Candada at the Summerhill Winery. The thing that really captured me about this wedding was the shoes that the bride wore. I have showed off several fun shoes over the past two years of blogging but these are really cute! The bride wore a pair of her favorite moccasins. From the looks of these pictures the bride not only looks amazing but seems to be very comfortable in those shoes. Here are my top three favorite things about this wedding.

#1- Yep, you guessed it, the shoes. I LOVE the unique pair of shoes that this bride decided to wear. These moccasins add personality and a unique feel to this wedding.

#2- The way the bride looks...from her shoes to her hair I think this bride looks amazing and most of all in her pictures she seems to be enjoying her wonderful wedding day. A smile on the bride is always the best accessory for the day!

#3- The centerpieces and the use off moss to add a natural and rustic feel along with the candles and fun table numbers.

Winter Blues

January 17, '11 by Maggie Lord

With snow, ice and cold temperatures hitting most of us right now I thought it might be fun to see how we can turn those winter blues into something fun and festive. When thinking about a winter wedding or winter party I often think of colors like silver and whites but cooler blue tones would make for a wonderful accent color too! Cure those winter blues with some of these winter blues!

An Indoor Wedding

January 14, '11 by Maggie Lord

This wedding really has a style all its own! This wonderful wedding is an indoor wedding with the charm of an outdoor wedding... yes, this indoor wedding has a cool and relaxed feel that you would see at an outdoor wedding with the perk of not having to worry about the weather! This wedding really is beautful and if you would like to have a wedding with this type of style here are my tips to make it happen.

1. Find a blank canvas type of location like an empty loft or open space that you can make look anyway you want with a little hard work and creative  inspiration.

2. Lighting is critical- When going for this type of wedding look make sure you take into account the lighting. You can see that at this wedding they have outdoor string lights to add that dramatic feel.

3. Don't be afraid to bring the outside elements in. Large trees, plants or other natural elements can be brought inside to make a blank space look and feel like a small intimate wedding venue.

Gable Boxes

January 12, '11 by Maggie Lord

I found some great shots on a blog which show off how you can use gable boxes at your wedding. I used them as welcome bags for guest at my own wedding. When the guest checked in they found these boxes filled with food, drinks, information about the area along with other goodies. It seems like the possibilities are endless with these boxes. Find the boxes here.

Here are a few pictures from my wedding. You can see we attached a vintage postcard with a welcome note to our guest and we also attached a list of events for the wedding weekend.

A MN Wedding

January 11, '11 by Maggie Lord

Today we have a real wedding that look place in Hastings, MN. This wedding has a classic Midwest feel with tons of fun ideas and charm. Here are my top 3 favorite things about this wedding...there are actually so many things I love about this wedding it is hard to pick only three but I will try!

1. The use of the baby's breath flowers. The bride carried it along with her bridesmaids and she even used them on the tables and for the ceremony. I used baby's breath at my own wedding and I have to say for a summer wedding they look amazing!

2.The use of mason jars. Maybe it is a Midwest thing (I got married at a resort in the WI town where my family summers, I used mason jars for so many different purposes ) these little (and inexpensive) friends can be used as vases, glasses and so much more!

3. The glass jars filled with smore fixing... what a wonderful way to end a night!

A VT Rustic Wedding Location

January 10, '11 by Maggie Lord

As I was looking cruzing around the usually wedding blogs this weekend I found a great location for a rustic wedding. The Inn at Mountain View Farms is located in East Burke, VT and seems to have all you would want for a rustic wedding including 440 acres for you to work with and a farmhouse which you can rent for your bridal party. Located only 3 hours from Boston I think this place maybe a location that many of you brides out there would love. Here are a few pictures from past wedding at this special place.

An outdoor MA Wedding

January 07, '11 by Maggie Lord

It seems a bit strange to be talking about a fun summer wedding when we are getting snow here on the east coast but I could not help showing off some fun details from this wedding which took place in The Barn at Gibbet Hill in Groton, MA. Here are few of my favorite things about this wedding.

1. The use of the color blue-just powerful enough to make an impact but it does not smother the natural beauty of the location.

2. The apples that are used in the centerpieces, what a fun way to add a pop of color in an unconventional way.

3. How the bride looks classic and elegant but relaxed and casual enough for an outdoor wedding.

A Readers Wedding: Montana

January 03, '11 by Maggie Lord

I have a wonderful real wedding to share with you today which comes to us from one of our blog readers! This wedding took place in June out in the beautiful Montana. Below is the information that comes directly from the Bride's mother.

We used sagebrush, white roses and berries for accents, and her colors she picked were tourquois accents for both groomsmen and bridesmaids, and coral dresses with linen suits. Both of which were worn with the cowboy boots of their choice.  Coral ribbons tied thank you notes to our guests on lucky horseshoes with turquoise repeated in the napkins at the tables.  It was held on the mountain side on the deck of a ski chalet at Bridger Bowl, where guests enjoyed the sunshine and a glass of wine while watching the event.
The bride, Katie, and the groom, Andy, both grew up in Montana and Washington respectively, and indulged in all the activities available to them here.  Snow skiing, hiking, waterskiing, biking, snowshoeing and horse riding. They fully appreciate a mountain lifestyle, both rustic and adventurous that it is, and planned their wedding exactly around those ideals.

The Night They Invented Champagne

December 31, '10 by Maggie Lord

 The night they invented champagne...
Since it is New Year's Eve and might be the busiest night for the champagne bottle I wanted to show off a fun idea for a wedding favor. Let your guest take home a little bit of the celebration with their own champagne favor. Check out how this fun idea can be brought to life!

Have a fun and safe new years eve and remember to have a sip or two of bubbly for good luck!

This is the same champagne that we served at my wedding and I must say it is a really good one!

A Classic

A Rustic touch to the champagne favor!
